I purchased some time ago from "RadioShack" in St.Thomas a DVD Player named "DUAL". The salesman told me that it plays only Region 1 but I can get on the internet and find the code to brake this region issue. But I searched a lot on the internet and I couldn't find. So please, if you can help me...
So, the DVD is "DUAL" and the guys from "RadioShack" Florida told me that the model is "DP3140". There's no code or anything written on the player about the model name.
Please help me. I leave in Europe and I need the region free on my DVD.

No problems with regional settings here - they all seem to come out multi zone in New Zealand...HOWEVER:
We are having some issues with our DVD system. We have a Panasonic DVD-RV31 to play from and a Panasonic DMR-E60 recorder...essentially we would like to be able to "back up" DVD's, however there seems to be some kind of a security lock which stops the recorder from copying DVD's.....Painful for home movies etc....as our recorder doesnt have an inbuilt hard drive. I have a Panasonic Combo TV/VCR/DVD
model # PV-DR2714 player/burner. I want to copy my collection of VHS tapes (which I purchased!) onto DVD. When I insert the VHS tape into the TV and attempt to copy it onto a DVD, the TV states that the tape is copyright protected and cannot be copied. I then inserted the same VHS tape into my "stand-alone" VHS recorder and recorded the tape onto the drive of my Series 1 Tivo thus making a copy of the tape onto Tivo. I then played the Tivo copy into the Panasonic TV to burn onto DVD and got the same message that the movie couldn't be copied. How can I bypass or disable this annoying feature of the Panasonic so that I can easily make copies of my VHS tapes onto DVD? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.

The Philips DVP642 DVD Player plays back AVI files and DivX, MPEG-4 encoded Video. It is a nice player, I only wish that it could do ID3 tags and had a better file system viewer that displayed more then the first 8 characters of the filename

Hi there, I bought my son a codefree DVD (E Clapton) in the US and as it didn't play on his LG LH-D6245 (or model looks very similar) I bought another one in Switzerland and it still doesn't play. Just says: No Disc Can we remove this stupid lock on a Zone 2 as LG says in the manual that codefree may not always work.

Hi - two questions.

1) I have a combo DVD/VHS player (Daewoo DV6T811). I successfully hacked the DVD side so it plays as all-region. But how does one hack the VHS side, if that's possible? I'm in Region 1, and want to play a Region 2 (Dutch) videotape.

2) I also have a Toshiba SD-V392 DVD/VHS player. Does anyone have hacking instructions for either the DVD or VHS side?

I have a Sansui VRDVD 4000 player that I want to make region free

I have a DVP-S7700 and purchase an out of region DVD that will not play on my DVD player. I accessed the setup menu "TITLE CLEAR PWR" via the mfrs remote but cannot change the region setting.

In addition, I opened the unit and there is no obvious switch, SW002, on the main board that can be changed. I assume the main board is under the metal shield.

What is the easiest and least expensive way to change the player to a DVD region free device ?

If I do make the change will the unit automatically decode PAL or NTSC coded movies ?

What a pain, any help is greatly appreciated.

Anywho, what I wanted to say originally, is that my shinco portable dvd player got friend in the stupid electric storm. I unplugged everything in the house but forgot to unplug it. So, now I have to replace it. I use it at the health club to coerce me to walk the treadmill longer. Now, I am using your wonderful blog to see what US dvd portable I can buy and alter. I try to buy everything from the UK anyhow, just to drive Hollywood nuts. Also, I try not to buy anything released by hollywood if I can help it. However, some movies you just got to have.

The Panasonic DVD-S27 is a "region free" player that doesn't need any hack codes. It comes straight from the factory this way. I can play NTSC and PAL dvd's with no problem. I'm not sure why others seem to have problems with it?

The only problems I seem to have is being able to play back certain DVD-R's that I've burned. A few play, a few don't... but when I try the ones that don't on another friend's DVD player, it works. Weeeeird!!

Hi I bought a HP ZD8000 laptop from a guy here in Camp Liberty, Baghdad Iraq yep over here in the war zone anyway the DVD player on this laptop is locked out the DVD model is LG GWA-4080N it will play the local movies here but wont play anything that I get from the PX
