I mentioned Kevin Warwick's recent stunt to implant chips to track missing children earlier. Stig at Y3K already predicted politicians to consider this technology on paedophiles, and right he was (except he predicted Norwegian Jan Simonsen to suggest it first): The Register reports: Leading Tory moots electronic tracking for UK paedos:
Letwin's view is that we now have the technology "which would enable us to track where an individual is." [The paedophiles] could be banned from being near schools, and "we could use this technology to automatically alert police if this person went near a school."The Register goes on in some detail in their article explaining (again) why such statements are optimistic at best with the current technology. Technology will come, though, that will enable such monitoring. Should we use it?
My comment about who was going to be the first, referred to a norwegian setting. I still think Jan Simonsen will be the first in Norway to suggest it in the parliament. I suspect that internationally several others will do it first. I suspect that some american counties, and states will be early-adopters. English counties will also be early and I also suspect Singapore to adopt this.
I will not be surprised if this kind of monitoring is common in about 10-15 years time in Europe and North America. Especially if high-profile cases involving murders and sexual crimes against children keep piling up like they do now.

It's about time to make the same laws apply across the board. In every country this is a problem. The only way laws can be enforced fairly is if the laws themselves make sense in any situation.
