In the section for news we don't like to hear (especially since I fly to and from Heathrow every week): Blair authorised terror alert troops
The prime minister gave his personal authorisation for soldiers to be drafted in to boost security at Heathrow airport and other sites in London, says Downing Street.Damn. I know it is for our increased security, I just don't like to get the war so close to me.A total of 450 troops have joined 1,000 extra police officers in patrolling the airport as part of a tightening of security at sites across the capital.
What is it in al-Qaeda's interpretation of Islam that allows random attacks on civilians? If it's a war - fight the soldiers, not the civilians, goddamnit!
You have hit upon the crux of the problem, Muslim extremists don't distinguish between military and civilians -- to them we are all infidels worthy of death. They have a very simple philosophy -- if you are not with them you are against them and deserve to die.
Sadly, this means there can never be peace until one side is dead. It will make for a long and dreary first decade of the 21st century.
