I went to see José Álvaro Morais' latest film Quaresma at the Cannes film festival's Directors' Fortnight last night. Should it pop up at a cinema near you, be aware that it's arty. Very arty...
I know I shouldn't criticize arty films when at a film festival, but the reactions among the public were far from extatic during and after watching a loong kind-of-love story including a dwarf, a pretty, but pretty disturbed woman, a married man about to move to Denmark, loads of wicked aunts & uncles, wind and Portugese landscapes and... well... It was probably deeper than my shallow mind was ready to tackle after cruising on the Croisette for the whole afternoon.
Been there, seen that. Fair enough :-)
