The Swiss Re tower in London City (also known among locals as ''The Gherkin'') is nearing completion. I think this is a really cool skyscraper, and walked over to shoot a few snaps of it:

Very interesting shots! I especially like the middle shot in the bottom row, the way the tower is framed against the tree and other building.

when do they attach the fins before blasting off?
cool!
Posted by: Anita Rowland on June 10, 2003 03:57 AM"The Gherkin," of course, is a most endearing nickname. I have to say though that it puts me in mind of something else. "The Jewelled Bomb," perhaps, or "The Weapons-Grade Suppository."

Posted by: Steve Roberts on September 6, 2003 05:24 PMBest thing to be built in london in 50 years.
Good of the bombers to clear the way for it
The Gherkin might not be the tallest skyscraper in Europe (Frankfurts Commerz Bank probably takes the prize), but it is definetely the most spectacular.
What a wonderful skyline you could have with a number of Gherkins :-)
