I'm considering using Google AdSense...
After seeing several webloggers starting to add ads, though, I've decided I want to be really careful as to where my ads would go. I don't want them to clutter up the front page, and I also would prefer to keep my most recent individual entries ad-free, providing free fresh content to regular readers.
However, I wouldn't mind adding some ads to, say, archived entries a month old or older... This way all the inbound hits from search engines could pay back a bit of their bandwith usage? :-)
What are other people's thoughts, and does someone have an MT archive tag plugin with an "If entry older than 30 days, display {...}" function? I've been looking around, but haven't found any stuff to cover this one yet... All input appreciated so I don't have to re-invent the wheel...
First: Blogs aren't really allowed. That is to say, sometimes they are - and other times they aren't. (See the part about personal sites not being allowed into the program in their program policy).
Second: Couldn't you fix that with the Switch plug-in? I would think so, although, not sure if it would allow for a if-condition type of case.

I have to admit that if I was to implement something like that in my blog, I would have hacked it with some PHP included in the template. I am already doing that to add textual numbers to my norwegian blog, and google search to my english. (Had to hack my own caching for the searches, I used to use up my 1000 searches on Google pretty fast betfore I started caching the results).
Jarle, thanks for the feedback. Regarding being allowed or not it looks like they're softening up on that as we speak (or maybe they're just randomly denying some blogs on nebulous criteria): (see also

Regarding running PHP or some script from all page requests I've tried to avoid a lot of that, but it's definitely an idea... I'll also see what I can done with the Switch plugin! Thanks!
Posted by: Anders on July 4, 2003 02:56 PMIf you use switch without a MTSwDefault section it acts as the same way as if (a == b).
However, I think the PerlScript plugin from Brad Choate would be more appropriate for this - http://www.bradchoate.com/past/mtperlscript.php
OTOH: If I was to use AdSense myself, I believe I would just add it to all individual entry archives.
