Testing my new toy, I shot these pictures after the pubs' closing time (11pm) Friday night:
Congratulations with the new camera. :-) Hopefully I'll have one before the end of the year :-)
Posted by: Jarle on August 18, 2003 12:52 AMAnders -- Awesome examples of the 10D's low-light capabilities. Did you use a tripod?
Posted by: Steven Hatch on August 18, 2003 03:28 PMIt would be great to know if these are hand-held or tripod shots. If hand-held, are they off-the-cuff or carefully set?
Also, have you dialed down the resolution for the Web, or shrunk the images in Photoshop? It would be interesting to see a full-resolution detail excerpt as well.
Posted by: Mark Bernstein on August 19, 2003 08:36 PMThanks for your comments, Steve and Mark;
these shots were shot hand-held (leaning on a car for one and on a parking meter for the other), both shots unplanned / not at all carefully set...
Resolution: VERY cut back for web-use. I shoot in 6.3 Megapixel JPEG (2+ meg per photo) I will post loads more photos in near future - will include some full-resolution samples for comparisons...
Posted by: Anders on August 24, 2003 11:02 PMI'm a Canon Ixus 400 user. I was wondering how you manage distant night shots using an ixus? I was doing some shoots at night and the images turned out to be really dark.
Hoping you can provide some advice.
Thanks.
Posted by: Keith on August 28, 2003 12:50 PMCongratulations on the photo of my pub (the Bishops Finger) I always feel it looks at its best late at night but have a problem capturing it on my canon a40 camera (always comes out dark!. well done on this site. Paul
