British Airways launches extra checkin at Heathrow

Good news for BA Executive Club Gold/Silver members and anyone flying Business/First from Heathrow Terminal 1: BA opened a separate check-in area for us less than a week ago.

When I tested it last Thursday evening there was absolutely no queues and the special bonus (that can finally make Heathrow compete with Gatwick in pre-flight convenience) is that there is a dedicated security control checkpoint (usually Heathrow has looong and boring queues for security where Gatwick has exeactly 0 queue any time I fly from there). Downside: 2 minute longer walk from Heathrow Express...

Of course, there is still little consolation from their removal of the pre-airport-train check-in at Paddington this summer - that was a nice perk that Star Alliance customers still enjoy...
