Gotta love the English. Sigur Rós is one of my favourite bands. Although not exactly mainstream boyband pop, the music is very melodic and nice. Apparently, however, the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow listened to them while giving birth over the weekend was exotic enough for it to be picked up both by The Sun and Ananova's "Quirkies" section - generally devoted to weird news...:
Obscure Icelandic music was piped into the delivery suite where Gwyneth Palthrow gave birth to baby Apple Blythe Alison Martin on Saturday. The Sun says Sigur Ros are the favourite band of Paltrow's husband - Coldplay's Chris Martin.

(Ananova: Unusual music choice for Paltrow)
Agree! Sigur Rós is really enjoyable, but Ananova and Sun is quite wrong that the first commercial release from the 'oddball four-piece group' was Babatikidodo. Aegetis Byrjun was their first really commercial breakthrough, but not as big as the follow up () from 2003. The Babatikidodo is from the collaboration between Merce Cunningham dance company and Radiohead, recorded in Brooklyn, NY, october last year. Anyhow I know that Sigur Rós really enjoys the statement from Chris Martin and wife...

Posted by: SposaNotturna on May 24, 2004 01:46 PMOddly enough, a buddy of mine mentioned Sigur Ros as a band he thoroughly enjoyed. I've listened to about a dozen or so of their songs and they seemed neat-o. Not really big into techno at the moment though.
Posted by: Tim Swanson on May 26, 2004 10:08 AMI love Sigur Ros. I just bought one of their CD's this winter, and keep listening to it. I want to get the () one, and hopefully one day the CD that's only available in Iceland.

Sigur Ros is nowhere near the techno genre.

You are referring to 'Von' - and it has now been re-released internationally.
