Searching for MSN email on Google yields Hotmail as result number 1.
Searching for google email on MSN Search does not have the Gmail homepage in any of the first 100 search results (I couldn't be bothered clicking further)!
But if you search for "google mail" instead of "google email" you actually get it in the first three search results.
"Its all about the queries baby" (to misquote, a P-Diddy tune from "long ago").
Posted by: Jarle on September 17, 2004 06:40 PMYeah, but considering the number of sites that must have said something along the lines of "google's new email service"...
Posted by: Ash Berlin on September 19, 2004 06:48 PMHotmail has been there since early 1990's but Google Gmail just arrived. It takes quite some time for GMail to catch up in term of linkage popularity.
Posted by: Jian Shuo Wang on September 28, 2004 12:04 PMhmm doubt it. My site gets a modest 300 hits a day, and these are the robot stats:
MSN 117 73.13%
Google 10 6.25%
MSN seems to do more crawling than google from these stats.
Also check AltaVista: http://www.altavista.com/web/results?itag=wrx&q=%22google+mail%22&kgs=1&kls=0
Ask.com:

And mamma.com:
http://www.mamma.com/Mamma?qtype=0&query=%22google+mail%22&Submit=Go+Mamma%21
All list gmail ;)
lol, so does msn if you drop the 'e' :p
