Went to a concert with Portuguese band The Gift at Cargo (Atlantic Waves Festival) last night.
A great, energetic band playing music that is very hard to categorize. Imagine, if you dare, a mix of Björk, Anastacia and Sigur Rós, all playing (incl a Theremin, an accordeon etc) and singing together, on speed... or something like that... In either case a great live-alternative-pop/rock-band; if you've got an opportunity and you're into that sort of music, you really should check them out on stage (3 concerts coming up in US the next days, 1 in NY, 1 in Santa Monica, 1 in Santa Fe).
As it happens, coinciding with the concerts, The Gift is also releasing a new double album called AM FM in a couple of days. Yesterday, after the concert, I was one of the first to buy it, and even got it autographed by the band. Although it would probably fetch a nice sum on eBay, I'll definitely keep it as a souvenir of the concert and of The Gift.
First impressions: The album is slightly toned down compared to the wicked, weird, wild and wonderful live show, but the music is solid, rich and energetic. Get it if you can.
Sounds like a fabulous new band to try out! Thanks for the recommendation.

It's wonderful reading about how well they are doing outside Portugal.

I´m glued to mtv hoping that I´ll be able to see more of them...........
i saw the gift in concert in a festival called senglarock in lleida . it was amazing. their concert was on friday ,next monday i bought their cd am / fm. it´s worth listening to
