How annoying are mobile phones in cinemas?

Someone googled for 'how annoying is mobile phones in cinemas' and I guess the only answer is: VERY!

It's so annoying that all sorts of things are being considered to cut them out: fines, signal blockers (although they may be illegal in some countries) etc. I wonder if it's illegal to just create a Faraday chamber by having metallic walls (as opposed to having an active blocking device)?

I would think that the reason why you don't really want jammers and other such solutions in cinemas is that the cell phones are good to have in an emergency. They can be used to alert the fire department of a fire in a cinema etc.

That said, I think they should make it as obvious that the use of cell phones will not be tolerate as they do recording equipment and cameras. I think the rule should be - if your phone rings - expect to be kicked out of the cinema without refund.

There's one thing I can think of that's more annoying than a phone ringing in a cinema.

And that is having the owner of the ringing phone answering it and having a conversation whilst the film is playing...

Just my luck, I was watching Star Wars III yesterday at the cinema and the exact thing I was talking about happened... There is no justice in the world.

I find all cell phones anoying. They do have their place but why does everyone feel the need to be in constant communication with everybody? Doesn't anyone simply go take a walk anymore? You mean to tell me they can't put the dam things away just long enough to watch a movie?
