How to play a NTSC DVD in Europe? (and other DVD FAQs)

Many visitors to the articles about "Will American DVDs play in a DVD player in England?", Region zero and region-coded, home-burned DVDs have questions they perhaps leave with unanswered; a couple of them (from the search engine referrers) answered here:

  • How to play an NTSC DVD in Spain?

    This is not a problem, but depending on the following: your DVD player must support the region code of the DVD, and must either be capable of converting NTSC to PAL or additionally your TV needs to be capable of displaying NTSC video.
  • Can you play a PAL region code 0 DVD on a NTSC player?

    "Most NTSC players can't play PAL discs. A very small number of NTSC players can convert PAL to NTSC. So, if you have an NTSC only DVD player you will NOT be able to play a PAL disc unless you use a standards converter box." (Source)

  • Can you play a Zone 2 PAL DVD on a US DVD player?

    See above: your player needs to be capable of PAL conversion (or play, in which case yout TV needs to be PAL compatible as well) and additionally, you need to have a multi-region player (or you need to de-zone your DVD player)

i am trying to find a site or someone to help me with unlocking macro vision for a sony rdr gx-7 dvd recorder even movies recorded off of cable dont look as crisp as they should be i believe this recorder has built in macrovision can it be disabled

what about if I do a copy of an ntsc system dvd? will it still be on ntsc? or while I copy it for myself, then is that possible to change the ntsc system code?

I am sure Nero has an option because it has built PAL NTSC coding options for VCDs/

i got pansonic e85h region1 in my country we use pal and not ntsc i need a code to change it for reagion free and pal if you can give ?
