This week's recommended female singer-songwriters

On high rotation on my ipod and Amarok playlists the last weeks have been:

  • Camille (website) - beautiful music - somewhere between Nouvelle Vague (where she participated in the past) and Björk. Get Le Fil and listen to La jeune fille aux cheveux blancs (sample here)
  • Olivia Ruiz (website) - was a contestant at French TV show 'Star Academy' (equivalent to American Idol etc) but has made a stellar career for herself. Check out La Femme Chocolat. Brilliant. (samples here)
  • Cat Power - Norah Jones-y, Regina Spektoresque - worth discovering. Latest album is called The Greatest
